The inaugural Finals MVP, and the league's greatest what-if. Charlie Simpson captained Red to the Season 1 grand final with Angus Hume — falling in that all-time three-setter — before a Season 2 campaign leading the Greeks that opened with 11 winners in a single match, still among the best nights ever recorded. Then came the "alleged collarbone break" (debatable), the botched contract negotiations, and a Season 3 lost to a standoff between his management and the TNT executive. The comeback, as promised, was legendary: a Season 4 cameo, and the ultimate honour of stepping in as emergency Pink captain when Luke Sharrock's beer pong ankle injury threatened the perfect season.
