First reported on 3AW's Rumour File, confirmed by everyone who's faced him since. Lachlan Jenkin's Season 1 cameo was so emphatic he was deemed "too good" for immediate inclusion — a fill-in shift featuring two aces and six winners that had the league buzzing for a year. When he finally entered the draft pool, the anonymous form guide had him at number one without much debate: 182cm, a big frame, a rocket serve and a punishing net game. He's justified the hype as a two-time captain, winning a quarter-final tiebreak in Season 3 before taking the eventual champions to three sets in the semi, then steering Navy past Red in the Season 4 quarters and pushing the unbeaten Pink juggernaut in the semi-final. Famous for putting his body on the line — sometimes literally horizontal — Jenkin forces more errors per appearance than nearly anyone. The rumour has long since become the standard.
