"Faff" arrived with a scouting report declaring him "for the large part unrankable" — citing a persistent thumb condition, a jolly disposition and "a potty mouth to run at the refs" — and has spent two seasons proving it half right. The win column has been unkind (the Pink campaign of Season 3 was character-building at best), but the moments have been enormous: his first taste of finals success came as a fill-in in Black's famous tiebreak quarter-final, and days later he was serving to keep Red alive in a semi-final suspended by council lighting regulations — pressure no unrankable player should ever face, handled with trademark cheer. Frequently jolly, happy and fruitful; occasionally victorious. Every league needs a Faffdog, and TNT found a great one.
